Environ stunned the world with the improvement of skin as a result of using the Environ® Proactive range of creams. Further improvements were obtained with the Environ® Ionzyme series as a result of producing fresher products with higher concentrations of vitamin A and C in addition to penetrant enhancers. The increased penetration of the essential vitamins leads to better results.

Even better results followed when Environ® introduced modern scientific iontophoresis and sonophoresis treatments to enhance penetration through the epidermis. Clearly the message from Environ®’s experience was that increased levels of the essential vitamins produce better results with greater normalisation of the skin and more deposition of collagen.

The problem however, is that not everyone can have access to iontophoresis, and sonophoresis. Dr Fernandes, founder of Environ®, sought ways to make these special results easier to achieve for people with time, location or financial restraints.

Research has shown that micro-needles that puncture the horny layer of the epidermis help to increase the amount of large molecules that can penetrate through the skin by approx 10,000 fold. Therefore, what was required was a system that permitted micro-needling of the horny layer of the skin without damaging the lower levels of the skin. Because there are no nerves in the upper part of the epidermis, this layer can be punctured without pain.

After extensive research, Dr Fernandes designed an instrument that could be used by anyone, anywhere, and would safely puncture the horny layer of the skin only. Now perfected, this instrument has been launched Internationally and is currently patent pending.

The instrument is known as a the Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™. (Pronounced "KIT" – the CIT stands for Collagen Induction Therapy)

The principal therefore behind the Environ Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™ is that it aids penetration of vitamins into the active layers of the skin. The effect of the "needling" causes micro channels into the horny layer (surface) of the skin.

This layer is the main obstruction to entry into the skin. By breaching this layer using the Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™, this assists the penetration of vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene contained in the skin care products reach into the depths of the skin about 10,000 times more effectively than by simply applying the products to the surface of the skin. The higher the levels of vitamin A and vitamin C that can penetrate into the lower layers of the epidermis may assist in production of more collagen, therefore encouraging natural collagenesis.

The treatment time can range from 5-10 minutes depending on the speed, accuracy and density. The treatment should be repeated at home between two to seven times a week. The more frequent the treatment, the better the result. The instrument cannot be "over-used" as the needles will remain sharp for a prolonged time. If the skin feels sensitive after a treatment, it should not be repeated until the skin feels comfortable. The tiny holes in the horny layer are sealed within a day

Side Effects
A slight "tired" appearance on the face as a result of slight skin swelling. This will subside in approximately 7-10 days.

What sort of results can you expect using Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™?

The photo's to the left indicate some distinct improvments. Far left is before treatment and the right photo is after a period of time.

Let us begin by diagnosing the existing skin condition around the eyes. Please note the elastin loss, which is showing as marked horozontal lines and loss of fit in the eye socket which shows as a skin fold.  Collagen loss although not apparent as the usual vertical lines is showing as thin skin density and fragility. In addition there is a frown line between the brows. The photo on the right is now showing that after a period of time of treatments that this frown line has virtually dissapeared. There is considerable improvment with the eye socket skin fold (at least 50%) and a similar improvment with the horozontal lines under they eye. The end result is a wider, fresher looking eye area as well as a stronger pinker skin colour generally. An excellent result

The photo's on the right although not the  best reproduction show similar improvments to the horozontal lines of elastin loss at the outer corner/temple area. The eye lid area appears to be less crepe' and a little stronger in tissue strength. 

Using the Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™ at home

The Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™ comprises of a convenient plastic handle, a smooth-action plastic roller head, and durable stainless steel micro-needles.
It should be stored in the supplied plastic box for maximum hygiene and safety.
The instrument must be kept away from children.
Weeks, prior to using the Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™, it is advisable to prepare the skin with adequate doses of topical vitamin A, C, E and beta-carotene by using either the Environ® Proactive or Ionzyme skin care range of products as recommended by your skin care professional.

Use the ROLL-CIT™ cleaning solution once a week.
To clean gently immerse the roller head into a cap filled up to the indicated mark, of cleaning solution, ensure that the roller head is completely covered in the liquid.
After a maximum of 10 minutes, discard the used cleaning solution and rinse the roller head with water before applying it to the skin.
Between cleaning the roller head weekly with cleaning solution, simply use warm water to rinse the roller head, before and after use, every time.

Remove the ROLL-CIT™ instrument carefully from it’s plastic case, taking care not to damage the needles in any way.

Divide the treatment area on the skin into sub-divisions ie. the forehead, the nose, the cheeks, the mouth area and the right and left sides of the neck, not forgetting the décolleté area.
Start on the forehead and roll vertically. Roll over the eyebrows so that the treatment is as thorough as possible. Do not force the roller into the skin but simply use mild pressure and gradually move across the skin until the forehead has been totally treated about four or five times in a vertical direction. Then roll obliquely at the same intensity covering the same areas and finally roll horizontally, rolling over each area of skin at least four to five times in each direction:
Treat each sub-division sequentially until the whole face and neck have been treated thoroughly and evenly.
5-10 minutes of treatment time is sufficient if you are just treating the face and neck, depending on the speed, accuracy and intensity.
The Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™ should be used on the upper and lower eyelid with caution. The upper eyelid cannot be treated below the bony rim unless the skin is pulled up taut onto the bony margin.
Only the treatments of the face and neck have been described, however, this treatment is also ideal for areas such as: arms, abdomens, buttocks and thighs where loose skin is required to be thicker.

Once you have completed the treatment on the desired area, apply the Environ® skin care product with vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene as recommended by your skin care professional.

The treatment should be repeated between two to seven times a week. The more frequent the treatment, the better the result. It is recommended to include the ROLL-CIT™ treatment into the evening regime, as you do not require SPF’s in day creams to penetrate into the deeper levels of the skin.
Use the ROLL-CIT™ in your regime after pre-cleansing, cleansing and toning and before applying moisturisers from the Proactive or Intensive range of Environ® Skin Care products as recommended to you by your skin care professional.
One need not be concerned about over-use of the instrument as the needles remain sharp for a prolonged period.
Should the skin feel sensitive after a treatment, it is advised not to use the instrument again until the skin feels comfortable. The tiny holes formed from the use of the treatment, in the horny layer seal naturally within a day.

Home care of the Environ® Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™

For every day cleaning of the Cosmetic ROLL-CIT™ ™, simply rinse the roller head under warm water before and after every use.
Use the cleaning solution only once a week to maintain the cleanliness of your roller head

Ingredients :
Aqua (water), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Ethoxylated Castor Oil, Alcohol Denat.

No preservatives or fragrances used during manufacture

Directions for use:
Fill plastic cap to the indicated mark with the cleaning solution. Immerse the roller head into the cleaning solution gently. Leave on "cradle" for a maximum of 10 minutes. Remove the roller head and discard the solution. Rinse roller head under water to remove all the cleaning solution before applying the roller head to the skin.
Please check best before date, which appears on the carton and bottle label. Do not use if the best before date has expired

Warnings:
Keep out of reach of children; Do not apply contents of bottle directly onto the skin or eyes. Contents may cause sensitisation by skin contact. Contents contain Melaleuca Alternfolia that may produce an allergic reaction if applied to the skin.
