Welcome
to issue 34

Hello and welcome to another issue of beautymagonline.

Hello and Happy New Year to all of you and happy holidays to those who are enjoying the summer of the southern hemisphere.
I hope you are all being “sun smart” and have checked the formulations of your sunscreens against the chart on page 88 in my new cosmetic chemistry book.

This issue is a little special in that next February it will be ten years since the first issue of this magazine went live on the net. In those days e-zines were very rare and even more rare were e-zines and websites dedicated to the beauty industry. When one looks back over the past ten years the personal care/skin treatment industry has had enormous growth and made great strides in creating wonderful formulations.

This is why I decided it was time for a little update in the way of a cosmetic chemistry book besides a dictionary (that will come later).
My book was written so as to give a positive impression about cosmetics used today. There are many websites, books and articles written that highlight the negative and cause unrest among cosmetic users and I had no intention of fuelling that fire. What I thought was unfortunate is that my book was not big enough to say everything that I believe we should know, so the next few issues of beautymagonline will be dedicated to cosmetic chemistry.

I will be travelling the world in 2010 teaching a 2day course on cosmetic chemistry, please check the website of www.pastiche.net.nz to see what dates I will be in your country or city.
This course is an extension of the Pastiche Method skin analysis course that has been taught for many years. The chemistry course is the logical follow on and concentrates on linking skin structure and function to product composition a further step in the Pastiche Method.

This past year has seen a number of training courses being taught in the USA and Canada, it has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning in the New Year.Special thanks for the generosity of Dermaconcepts and their supporting staff across the USA who were a big part of making the teaching experience so enjoyable.

This past year, all around the world there has been many of you either proof reading for me or listening to me and in some cases “putting up with me”.
Please accept my sincerest “thank you” to those of you who have supported my endeavours. I look forward to catching up with you all again very soon.

Yours truly,
